“It’s difficult to find a good name for your baby,” you might say. And we agree! When it comes to naming a child, there are so many choices that it can be overwhelming and confusing. But don’t worry we’re here to help you make the right decision on what type of name will suit your son or daughter best. After 3 minutes of research, we have debunked three common myths about boy names that start with S: Samuel, Sebastian, and Simon.

Myth # One: If your last name starts with S, then you should not use Sebastian.

False! In fact, this is one of the most popular boy names that start with S ranking in at number 36 on our list. And if you have a family history where Samuel was consistently used as a middle name for boys who had surnames starting with the letter D, E or F, feel free to include it as well it’s an old tradition and still very much alive today. As long as there isn’t another member of your immediate family bearing this first name already (or someone from the extended family), then go ahead and use it confidently for both parts of their surname. It may take some time before people catch on-so be patient!

Myth # Two: If your last name starts with S, then you can’t use Simon.

False again! This is one of the most popular boy names that start with S, ranking in at number 34 on our list. And if it’s not for either part of their surname, then feel free to go ahead and use this first name confidently although it will take some time before people catch on. In fact, many famous figures have been named Sebastian or Simon who also had surnames starting with the letter H or I such as Cy Twombly (Sebastian), Stanley Kubrick (Simon) and Stephen Hawking (Stephen William). So there are plenty of options out there for those who want to avoid a name starting with the letter A.

Myth # Three: If your last name starts with S, then you can’t use the letter K as a first initial for your child.

That’s not true either! This one is pretty easy to debunk since there are plenty of famous figures who had surnames that started with the letter A and used the letter K in their given names such as Albert Einstein (Albert Hermann). So if it wasn’t about family tradition or changing someone else’s surname into something different than what they were already using, feel free to choose any other option because this myth was debunked fairly easily.

Aurora Borealis – The Northern Lights That Are Worth Your Time And Money To Catch Them Up Close In Iceland The Aurora Borealis is a natural light show that occurs in the sky due to solar winds and particles called electrons.

This is a little misleading because they all have some other letters in their name as well  like B for Sebastian and M for Sawyer  but these often make up to about half of the entire alphabetical list! So if you’re also looking at other letter combinations, don’t forget to consider Sean’s (#92), Seth’s (#289) or Scott’s (#153)!
