“Kate” for my daughter’s middle name because it starts with K, but doesn’t sound like “Cate” or Catherine are spelled differently. It also has the same pronunciation as Katherine (or phonetically), which means that people can pronounce her first and last names together correctly without confusion. Plus, there are several different meanings for the name Kate in English-language cultures, including “pure”, which means that this was a nice choice for my daughter’s middle name.
The K-name I would recommend is Katie or Katherine, but not Katelina (which can be spelled two different ways).

Katie / Katherine are the only good choices to follow with K, and they’re both starting with it as well. The name Katherine may sound feminine because it starts with a “K” letter when said out loud.” Do not try to find a name that starts with K because you want your child’s initials to spell something K is one of the most popular baby girl names, so it will be easy for people to remember and pronounce
It was difficult trying to come up with an original spelling or meaning when we were looking at our options. It felt like there weren’t any other ways I could make my daughter stand out while also having her first initial on the top row.
The best thing about this decision though has been how many compliments she gets every day! You don’t see too many kids around with these letters in their name which often leads me into discussing where they are from (or if they’re an English major). I know it’s important that a name be easy to spell and pronounce in order for people to remember it, but now I’m glad we tried something different! The only downside is that finding her initials on social media or business cards can sometimes be confusing. (It took me some time before I could figure out who was KK.) This was the first time I’ve felt so empowered to search for a name because of its meaning. When my husband and I found Kiana, we knew it had to be her name. The definition of the word is “beautiful,” which she certainly is!
We were very excited when our daughter was born on Christmas Day in 2016, but by New Year’s Eve day 2017, that excitement turned into sadness as we lost her at birth due to complications from prematurity. We had planned out what all three kids would wear this year- big brother with his denim overalls holding baby sister in pink fleece pajamas while dad held up their new baby sister wearing an outfit they picked out just for her; middle sister wearing her Christmas dress and big brother in his new outfit.
Heres the thing: she’s not dead, you know? In a way that is so much more real than my words can ever be anyway, because I was there to witness it. She just went into God’s arms. You see, when we lost our daughter at birth last year on New Years Eve day 2017 due to complications from prematurity, those two little boys were born 15 minutes later- both healthy and perfect with no lasting effects of being premature – which means they are now 16 months old as I write this post today! That baby girl will always live inside them too; either through their laughter or even a simple glance up into the sky for one second. She went to Heaven and joined her big sister, who died in infancy from a rare genetic disorder. They are now with their Daddy up there; he was an angel that always watched over them down here. And I know it’s hard for me too without him..but they have each other forever now – which is the most beautiful thing about life after death because they will never be alone ever again! Heres what: she didnt die- not really at least- just like all of us dont when we go home to God one day (or even before then). We’re still living on through our children and grandchildren and siblings and parents or friends, so you just need to let yourself live fully until your time comes. That
