Hopkin, the New York-based start-up that manufactures and sells a device to automatically brew coffee at home, has raised over $10 million in funding and has an ambitious expansion plan.
It has been two months since Hopkin launched its ‘n’ Brew coffee machine to the public, and they’ve just raised $7 million in pre-Series A funding. That’s a lot of money for a start-up, but it’s not unheard of for this kind of money. In the past two years, a lot of hardware companies have been able to raise a lot of money.
This is an interesting idea because it allows home brewers to brew a cup of coffee with the click of a button. For a company that sells a gadget that brews coffee, that is quite an achievement. It is a very similar concept to the mobile app that was introduced with the Apple iPhone, which made it easy to brew coffee at home. The difference is that the Hopkin device does not require an app to be installed on your phone.
The problem with this concept is that many of the small independent coffee shops around the country don’t have enough people making a living by brewing coffee at home. These companies provide home brewers with a way to make a living and allow the small entrepreneurs to keep their doors open. It has been said that the next big thing for the coffee industry will be the roaster that can get a cup of coffee ready in about 30 seconds.
In any case, I love hops. The whole idea of making a coffee by hand is an idea that has always appealed to me. It’s just a lot of work and some of the best coffee i’ve ever tasted comes from the work of a home brewer.
That’s right. I get to work with some of the world’s best home brewers. With its vast array of recipes, brewing aficionados will be able to create their own artisanal coffee every day. It will be a lot like the artisanal cheese makers you know from your local farmers market.
Well, as a coffee maker, I can’t disagree more. I’m always looking for new ways to improve my process and share my knowledge with the world. I’m definitely not going to stop here though. I’m going to go on to explore other ways of brewing with the best home brewers around.
Ok. Lets get started with hops. The reason I’m talking about hops is because I want to get into the world of hops.
I know what most of you are thinking. You’re probably thinking, “hops? A bunch of little white packets sitting right in front of you? I don’t know, are they harmful?” Not according to my research, and as usual, I’m not going to argue with the experts.
As I mentioned in my introduction, hops are actually the only thing on Earth that has some kind of natural ability to kill other living organisms. But hops are also the best way to make your beer taste good. They are the best way to make your beer taste like hops. So if you want to make a good beer, you want good hops. It’s like having a bottle of vodka for a good vodka taste.
