I am a software engineer, but I am really more of a “programmer” to others. I design software, program test, and write code. I enjoy the programming side of things, but I also enjoy meeting and learning what people do in business and in the professions. I love the challenge of building things, and my job is to help people create things.

So, how do we build things? Well, you could start with a simple tool that any programmer could use to make a list of what is on the list (like Excel). But that is not very useful when you think about the number of things that people do every day. In a business setting, people are dealing with a wide variety of situations, and you need to be able to identify these situations and build something that will help solve them.
Building something from scratch takes a lot more time. It has to be able to handle a wide variety of situations, take on a wide variety of circumstances. At its core, a business or a project is a collection of situations that are all interconnected. For example, a restaurant that is serving a menu of sandwiches might be working in the kitchen of the building that is hosting the restaurant.

We tend to think about business owners as being highly productive and effective people. We see them as being very efficient at all aspects of their job. They can be very happy, but we tend to think that their happiness comes in the form of productivity when they are working hard.
