One of my favorite chalk board pen techniques is to draw a black chalk line right above a white space and then draw a small white dot into the black line. I call this chalkboard pen michaels because it is very similar to the drawing we do with our hands. The difference is that I make a tiny dot instead of making a big dot, which makes this even easier to do.
This is probably the easiest way to learn how to write something, and it works even better if you don’t have a permanent pen in your hand. I recommend using a permanent marker, but there are a lot of brands out there that can work. Personally, I like to use Inkblot, which is a great permanent marker. It’s also great for making letters you can erase at any time.
To do the writing, you will need a chalkboard and some pencils or pens. You might find it easier to get a regular pen, which you can just add water to. This will allow the chalk to dry more slowly. There are a lot of good chalkboard pens out there, but I got the Martha Stewart Pencils, which are great for writing in small lines and do a nice job.
A great all-purpose marker is ChalkBlue, which is a permanent marker which you can add water to to create any kind of writing you want.

I love chalkboard pen michaels. I was a big fan of the original michaels before I moved to California. I was disappointed to find that the new version is not as awesome as the original. The markers are much smaller, and the pen is just a tiny ball, so it doesnt offer enough leverage for me to draw a big chalkboard effect in.
The problem is that the new version of pen michaels has a smaller, flat tip. So it does not have the big chalkboard chalk action that was so popular back in the day. It also has a very small ball, which is not really good for drawing big chalkboard designs. The good news is that there are several other pens on the market that offer the same type of chalkboard chalk action. Most of them are much smaller and have a large flat tip.
