My mom and I have been crafting for years, and we share this simple yet effective pattern. We use an older pattern from the back of the book, but we change the colors.
The idea is pretty simple. We’re just going to use a box and a set of chopsticks, and we’re going to make two different patterns. One is for a dinner party; the other is for a birthday. We’re going to play with patterns and try to find a pattern that will work with both of our purposes.
We have a gift for a family member or friend who has passed away. Or for an anniversary. Or both.
The gift of life is a big enough topic that it deserves its own pattern. As in, a pattern that is easy to put together and that makes it easy to get the right decorations and whatnot.
For a birthday, we had the old fashioned pattern of a starburst, with a heart and a flower. I liked this pattern better because it is easier to make than the more elaborate ones, and because I wanted to make the flowers small. The starburst is the hardest pattern to make.
You can also do a flower with a heart and a starburst, and just have a pretty, simple pattern for the rest of the flowers.
I had a lot of fun making my own pattern for the flower. I just used a large piece of ribbon and a very thin string. I found making a pattern out of a single piece of ribbon and string to be a bit easier than I had imagined.
I hope you liked the flowers, and I hope you had fun making them. With that said, the anniversary is fast approaching. The deadline is in two weeks and I have to get everything assembled and ready to go. But that’s okay because it’s my birthday.
A lot of people ask me for birthday or anniversary party favors. I don’t know if I’ll be able to accommodate all you want. I just have to be sure it all fits in the big box that I have to post at my office. But you can also make them from scratch if you want to. I also made a few that I will be posting on Instagram. One is a simple flower garland with a note asking that you do the same and send it to me.
There are a few parties coming up that would be perfect for any anniversary – and I’m not talking about a big bash. I’d say two parties with a good mix of family and friends and one just for the geeks. I’m not talking about a party that’s all about the birthday person (that’s a terrible idea). I’m talking about a party that’s for you.
