I am in love with these fancy window shades that I have seen in all the windows everywhere. I always find them at great prices and can’t get enough of them. I think it is because they are the first shade I see, especially in my winter. I am not a huge fan of the ones that are plastic and do not last as long as the ones that last.
Plastic is a material that is very durable (and cheap) but is very vulnerable to water damage. Plus, plastic tends to be somewhat flimsier than other materials. The shades we have seen come in a variety of colors, styles, and fabrics. Many come from China which is great because you can usually get them cheaper there. We have seen ones that are made of wood, but wood is much more durable, so we haven’t seen that yet.
We are not sure exactly what is going on here. It might be that the shades are just made of plastic and that they are not going to last forever. If that is the case, then it may be worth getting one of those for your window. If they are made of wood, however, then they will eventually lose their luster and fade, so it may be better to avoid them.
But if you do the math and think they are made of wood, they are probably going to cost you a fortune just to have them put in your window. If you do the math and think they are made of plastic, however, they are probably going to be a bit more affordable. Maybe that is why they are still around.
To be honest, a nice window is a nice thing. It can be a beautiful addition to your home or the very thing you need to get rid of (if you are going to go the plastic route). But you should understand that they are not going to last forever, and they are going to eventually have to be replaced with something better.
