I wish we could get an example of a finance minister who is self-aware of what he’s doing, and of course, what he’s going to do.
In South Africa, Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan is known for his extreme ego and penchant for self-promotion. So it’s not a surprise that he’s self-aware. He’s also one of the few finance ministers in the country who understands that he has a lot to gain by taking a more strategic approach to his job. And so he’s doing the right thing by being increasingly self-aware.
South Africa is pretty well self-aware despite the fact the job is a big responsibility, so that’s probably why Gordhan is doing it. But self-awareness is definitely something that needs to be developed for any finance minister of the future. It’s just not something that is easy to gain.

If you are in South Africa, then you probably think that self-awareness is on the tip of your tongue, but the reality is that, like many other things, we are pretty bad at self-awareness. We usually only think about the negatives, the things we can’t control. But there are so many positives to being an African. You can travel the world, be a millionaire, live a luxurious life.
In Africa, we have an incredible opportunity to live out the potential that we always thought was within us. One of the things that makes us such a unique group is the fact that we are quite literally “unbilled.” We don’t have any politicians from around the world to speak to. We don’t have anything to do with the world. We are the only ones who have no power.
But we also do have the power of the internet and social media to make a difference. We just need to make sure we harness it properly. For example, a big part of what we do is share stuff on social media, so if people share a video that is about us, we need to put a link to it on our website.
We recently had a really big impact on the world. We have a very active social media presence, but when we say we have a social media presence, we actually mean it. Our social media presence is so high-quality that it can’t possibly mean we have no power. But it does mean we have a lot of power.
So what is the problem? The problem is that social media is a very social medium. We have millions of people posting about us. If we get it wrong, it can be a very bad thing. The question is not “how do you get it right?” but rather “how do you get it wrong.” And that’s what it’s all about.

The W3C is a standards body that works to help the development of web standards and ensure that web resources are made available to other web platforms. So we use the standards developed by the W3C to develop our platform.
