As a fiber artist myself, I see the advantages to the use of fiber with the construction industry. Since your home is a very complicated structure made up of many components, it can be very difficult to design, connect, and install unique components. If you’re not careful, you can end up with a home that is not only hard to maintain and keep clean, but also unsafe.
The other side of the coin is that new fiber-based homes are often a bit of a pain to install. You have to drill your tubes, install tubing, etc. It can be very time consuming to get it all working right the first time, and it’s always hard to find a good way to seal and glue your tubes together from scratch.
There are plenty of DIY projects that can help you get your home up and running quickly. One of my favorites is the mesh tube that I mentioned above. It requires careful maintenance and attention to detail, but it is absolutely worth it. Mesh tubes are easy to install, and they can be built from a variety of materials so you can easily custom make anything you need.
Mesh tubes are a little different than standard tubes. The outside is usually made of cardboard and the inside is made of plastic. What they have in common is that they are strong and inexpensive. It’s not like I’m saying you should just give up and buy a bunch of standard tubes that you have no idea how to use.
If you can’t find the right mesh tubing that you need, then you can build your own with a few scissors and some glue. It doesn’t have the same weight or toughness as a tube, but it will last a long time. They also look cool to me.
If you know what mesh tubing is, then you know what it is to build a tube. For example, you could make a tube with just a few sheets of the stuff and no glue. That’s actually pretty easy, but it is quite a bit of work. It’s not as easy to make a tube with only some cardboard. But once you have a bunch of the stuff, it becomes a lot easier.
Mesh tubing is just a fancy name for cardboard tubes. It is a common type of cardboard tube that is made from a light weight sheet of plastic. You could use just cardboard, or you can buy a sheet of plastic that is already cardboard. You could also use metal wire wrapped around the cardboard. The advantage to using cardboard is that it will last longer than the plastic, but the disadvantage is that the cardboard is more likely to break or tear over time.
The good news is that cardboard is a great material to use for cardboard tubing. The downside is that it is more expensive than the plastic that it is made from, but the price difference is almost a moot point now that the price of cardboard has come down significantly.
I’m not against using cardboard as a replacement for plastic tubing, but I do think that for some people, the cardboard is a better choice. That’s because it is easier to remove a plastic tube when compared to the cardboard, and it is much easier to bend. It also holds its shape better, so a cardboard tube can be bent with less effort than a plastic tube.
