You may not know why your cat is panting, but you’ve probably seen them do it. It’s usually when they are stressed or overheated from playing too hard outside. But cats also pant as a way to cool down because their fur doesn’t help with that like ours does. Cats have something called sweat glands all over their body, and these glands release moisture on the skin to keep themselves cool.

In this blog post we will be exploring why cats pant and how they can stay healthy in the summer heat!

Why do cats pant? Cats have not naturally sweated glands, and as a result they need to find other ways of cooling down. They release moisture on their skin in order to keep themselves cool during the summer months. However, if your cat does have too much exposure to heat or is stressed then it’s possible that they will start panting more frequently than normal.

What should you know about keeping your cat healthy this summer?

Try providing fresh water for them regularly so that they can drink at least twice per day (or every eight hours). Make sure there is enough shady space outside where your kitty can retreat from the sun whenever he needs to! And lastly make sure there are plenty of dry spaces indoors where your cat can A cat’s panting is a reflex to help them regulate their body temperature. Cats have sensitive respiratory systems that allow for rapid exchange of air, which can cool the animal and bring its core temperature back down. This is especially important when cats are outside in summer or following exercise where they may be overheating quicker than usual.

Some experts say this is because cats evolved from desert-dwelling animals who were accustomed to high temperatures; therefore it becomes necessary for them to dehydrate themselves if they find themselves out at midday heat without shelter during hot weather days. Another possible reason might be due to more surface area on their tongue compared with humans as well as lack of sweat glands making the process faster cooling-off easier.
