This is a picture of the Grand Rapids area of southeast Michigan where I live. The area is home to many universities, small cities, and a great regionally-focused economy. This area also has a large expat population.
I’m sure you, like me, are wondering what it’s like to live in the region that is home to many of the above. Well, it’s easy. It’s like living in the suburbs. Just like most other places, it’s very safe. A good friend of mine has lived in the same area for over 20 years. I’ve lived in the same area for over 10 years. The only real downside is the expat population.
Expats in the region are usually first-class citizens. This includes being able to move easily and comfortably and not having to worry about expats from other areas. Most importantly, its the friendliness of the expats that makes it easy to live in the area. For instance, most of the expats I’ve met have a great interest in the local area and are very helpful.
The best part is that the expats are usually very friendly and want to live in the area. This makes the expat population easier to deal with as they are not going to be looking for a place to live out of desperation. You can learn a lot about the expat population by visiting the expat community.
