I have always thought this was a great dye. But it turns out it is actually made from a plant in Ethiopia. (What a coincidence – I’ve been living in Ethiopia for the past 10 years. I’ve been a missionary there for three of them.) Apparently dylon black dye is known to be an effective way to remove stains from denim and wool.
I have often wondered if this dye had an effect on people’s skin tone. A couple of years ago I was able to see how the dye made the skin look purple. It seemed to change the color of the skin a bit, which is why I wondered whether it might be good for people to have this dye on their skin for years or even decades. It turns out I was wrong, and people’s skin is quite clear, no dye necessary.
The dye is not only a good way to make clothes look better, it can also be used to make your own clothes. You can find similar colors with other dyes available online.
So far it seems that this dye has been used to make a lot of clothes, but it would not be surprising if some have been used for making clothes for years, or even decades, since a similar dye was discovered in the 1950’s. I can’t imagine this dye is very popular among women, but it could be quite useful for men who want to make clothes for themselves that aren’t too plain. It has the added benefit of being long lasting, too.
The black dye is made from a red carminic acid dye. So it’s apparently not as safe as the red dye for dyeing textiles, but it’s a lot cheaper.
The dye is not recommended for dyeing textiles. Its basically a very powerful dyeposition reagent that gets into the way of the natural dyes that other dyeposition reagents work with. If they could somehow get it out of the dye, though, then it could theoretically be used for dyeing clothes.
And a lot of dyeing is dyeing textiles, so that’s why it’s useful. If the dye is left in the dyeing solution for a long time, the dyes might leach out of it and damage the fibers and possibly the fabric. It’s also a fairly powerful reagent, so it could cause some serious damage to the fabric. I don’t know if there are any studies on it, but if they do, I hope they study it carefully.
It’s a pretty powerful dye, probably about the same as a lot of other dye. I guess its worth noting that there are a lot of reasons why it might work, but probably not why you would need it.
So dyes are probably bad for the fabric, but they are also a very powerful reagent. But dyeing is just one of many ways to take something out. Another is the cutting of fabric at a very high speed. This is done with some powerful saws, but it’s definitely not an easy way to take something with you wherever you want to go.
