We’ve been all about the DIY decorating for the past year. Although, let’s be real, I do still have a small amount of decorating done in my own home (thank you Pinterest!). With that said, we are all still left with little spaces to fill.
If you want to look great in your own home while trying to keep your wallet out of debt, here is a list of 50 ways to decorate your home without spending a lot of money. The most important thing is to experiment, and to try new things.
You might be surprised to hear that the majority of these ideas cost between $10 and $50 and are relatively easy to make. You can find a pretty close resemblance to what I’ve said in previous posts on this website. Of course, it’s always good to have a budget, but the list above is actually much more affordable than most of the other DIY projects on this website.
The most fun is probably to decorate your home with a combination of patterns, colors, and textures that don’t clash. I don’t see too many people decorating their home in this way, but there are plenty of DIY home decorating projects that combine different elements to create a cohesive effect.
Ive heard many people say that they use these DIY projects to create a visual “counterpoint” to their decor. One of the first ones I found was a set of hexagons. I remember my mom and I making this hexagonal rug out of all different kinds of fabric and then painting it in stripes. It really worked out well when we had guests over :).

This is a fun challenge for any homeowner to try. A good way to learn a new color palette is to match up the palettes of every room in your house with the matching color palette for the whole house. This may be more difficult than you think, so you should definitely consider it.
The biggest challenge is to get the colors to match up. If you have a large house, it is much easier. If you have a small house, it is much harder. And if you have a home with only a few rooms, that’s even harder. Color matching is one of those things that I know I’ll never do well, but my husband and I are going to try this challenge with a few different rooms of our house.
We have two colors, red and white. We have a dresser, a sofa, a nightstand, and a dresser drawer. These are all wall colors. The walls are all pretty neutral. So, let’s say we draw a color for each of the walls. The first two walls are white and the walls behind them are each red. This is the blue wall.
