I think that most people would agree that any house that has a color scheme to match, should be painted in that color scheme. It is just so easy to get mixed up and paint the wrong thing. However, there is a very real exception to that rule. When you are painting your home, it is important to choose colors that correspond to the type of home you are constructing. This could be a white, a dark, or even a neutral color scheme.
When we were just getting started, we were painting our bedrooms in the same color scheme, but we were painting both of our living rooms in a neutral color scheme, and we painted our kitchens in the same color scheme, but they were painted in a neutral color scheme.
Now that we are well into our second year of paint, I actually feel like I have a pretty good idea of what color scheme to put all our new colors into. There are a lot of choices to be made, and the color schemes we selected are ones where I think we will be able to get the most bang for our buck.
The color scheme that I’m going to use is really the same as I’ve done my whole home in. I picked out some neutral colors to go with the neutral colors in the living rooms. I also picked out neutral colors in the kitchen.
The whole point of color combination is to accentuate a single element of your home. For example, if your kitchen is a very neutral color with your dining room and living room being bright colors, it is very easy to see how your whole home could look more than it already does. So you could pick the same colors in your kitchen and the dining room, but you could also pick a different shade of white in your kitchen and the dining room for different effects.
As a matter of fact, the same thing goes for your bedroom and the bathroom. Same colors, but different shades. You could pick the same colors in your bedroom and the bathroom, but you could paint the walls in different shades of the same color.
The beauty of this is that no two bedrooms or bathrooms will exactly be the same. We could paint the kitchen in the same white as the bedroom, the dining room in the same white as the bathroom, and the bedroom in the same pink as the bathroom. Then we won’t have to worry about the color difference between the kitchen and the bedroom, or that the kitchen and the bathroom are both the same shade of the same color.
