It is pretty amazing how the smallest little thing can have a profound impact on a home, from how it looks and feels to how it will decorate your space.
Here at DIY-Dunk, we’re all about small-scale projects. Just take a look at the photo above, for example. It’s glass, so we thought it might be fun to make some glass-blowing. We used a small spoon to make a sort of stencil-shaped glass piece.
A stencil-shaped glass piece. I’m going to say I was a bit obsessed with it. The stencil (on the right) was shaped like a little tube. You can see that the tip is hollowed out. The bottom is flat, and the top is cut away. We used a spoon to make a hole that was about the height of the spoon. Using a knife, we turned it into a stencil.

If you’re thinking of using some of these for something, I’m sure it’s not too difficult to make anything that is pretty. The only difference between a regular piece and a glass piece is that the glass pieces are more angular.
We used a knife to cut the stencil into two different shapes (the regular piece and the tube-shaped piece). I also used a spoon to make the holes in the tube-shaped piece. The glass piece is about the size of your hand, so its only when you get into it that you realize how heavy it actually is.
I’m not sure if this is a good idea, but I’m planning to make these glass pieces now. I found a really beautiful piece in the glass bin at the craft store. I’m not sure how to use it, but I imagine it would look really cool up on a windowsill. I’m also planning to make some sort of lampshade out of some of these.
I just read a great post on Craftscast about the very useful, and rather simple, way to make glass for your home. Even though glass isn’t something we associate with the holidays, it is actually quite useful and will certainly make a great accent in your décor.
