When I was a kid I used to love to knit. My mom would buy me yarn and needles and let me work on things like socks, hats, and handbags. This is where the love of knitting came from, I would watch my mom knit. As a result I learned how to make things with my hands and knitted for so many years.
I used to get so frustrated and angry when others would say, “Hey you should knit” and then I would think, “But Mommy’s never done this before.” As a kid I found it hard to believe that someone could actually knit. That was until I started getting into my teenage years. I would get into my dad’s car with a bottle of whiskey and a book on knitting. He would drive for hours and we would knit together.
I got so interested in knitting that I started to make my own patterns for things. The good news is that my dad was like, Hey, you can knit.
Just like most of the other things I’ve done, I started with cheap fabric and a needle and thread. I would make my own designs and then sew them on to other things. It turned out that I wasn’t making my own patterns, it was more of a hobby to knit from patterns you found online. It was a very satisfying hobby.
I was about 14 so I know a little bit about knitting, I have a pattern for a sweater called the “loom t shirt”. I would knit that and have it done. It was very satisfying, and I was making my own projects and things I wanted to make as time went on.
