Yes, the company is definitely different. For it to be a real estate company in the traditional sense, the focus would be to buy land, but the company focuses on buying land by selling it into someone elses commercial real estate. Also, the company is a little bit weird. Not because their investors are eccentric, but because they have a slightly shady business model.
They don’t really have investors. They have a bunch of wealthy families and the company is just for them.

Its a bit of a stretch to call the company for its name “Mariner Finance.” This is because its not really all that much like a finance company; this is more like a small business that also happens to be a real estate firm. Its not really a finance company even though the name is what people think its a finance company.
Im sure they do have a finance company. I mean they do have a business manager, but hes in the finance department in the same way, so the company has to be a real estate firm.

I personally think the main reason for this is that the real estate industry is really just a sort of a middle ground between real estate and insurance. That means that a lot of the big players are working in a highly regulated industry. If you want to make a good living, you need a big company and its a bit scary to be running a business.
