The fact is that the majority of our actions and thinking are on autopilot. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions carry us through our lives so we don’t have to stop and think about it every time we wipe our ass or start a car.
The problem is when we’re on autopilot for so long that we forget we’re on autopilot. Because when we’re not even aware of our own habits, routines, impulses, and reactions, then we no longer control them they control us.
We forget how much of our daily lives we are on autopilot. This is why we do certain things, and we don’t look back at it. We take out too much of our own lives and we forget the rest. We don’t want to remember what we did on the way to work. We’d rather think about what we are doing now. We don’t want to remember what we had for dinner.

The problem with a lot of the stuff we take out is the fact that we do it without really being aware of it. We just sort of do it. When we do it, it’s usually without thinking about it or remembering it if we do. We just do it. Sometimes we take out things without thinking about it, and it’s amazing that we dont remember it.
We are so used to being “out of our minds” that it’s easy to forget that what we’re doing is actually happening. We make up excuses like “this is so weird, I don’t remember doing that” or “I didn’t do that, I was working” or “I wish I’d done that, I have to write that down someday.” When we take out things without thinking, we just take out things without the intention of doing them (or even remembering).
We all have that one friend or relative that is just too nice to make a mistake. So when you take out something and it doesn’t go the way you thought it would, you just take that out and move on. That’s the opposite of the mentality you need to have in order to take something out without regret.
When we do something we really have to think of it as a thought, so we really need to train ourselves to be thinking and plan to take something out and not just just take it out without thinking about it. We don’t stop thinking about something as soon as we take it out. So we need to train ourselves to stop thinking about our actions before we take them out.
The way that we’re thinking about the content of our actions is so that we can take action before we have any idea what to do. So we need to train ourselves to say, “I’m going to do this, I’m going to do that, I’m going to do that.” We have to think about what we want to do first and then we need to figure out what to do it’s supposed to do.
The trick to this stuff is to train yourself to think about the action as a whole. If you are thinking about the action individually you will still get stuck in the same thought pattern. For example, you may think about hitting your computer with a screwdriver before you actually do it. You know what you are supposed to do, but the action still takes you away from what you are supposed to do. The trick is to train yourself to think about the action as a whole.
