I’ve always found tie dye to be a divisive topic. I think the fact that it exists in all eras is what makes it so fascinating.
Tie dye was invented in the 1870’s by a young woman named Clara Binswanger. She’s the daughter of an elderly German immigrant tailor named Johann Binswanger. She and her family lived in Germany and her father taught her the art of dyeing fabrics. Clara decided to experiment as a child and started a business selling her dye on public streets in New York City.
The idea of tie dye is that you have a very simple thread that is dyed a certain color. The color is then tied around objects to create a tie which has the added benefit of keeping the cloth from getting wrinkled. The color-dyeing process is so simple that you can do it while you’re at work or on vacation. You just need a needle, thread, and a small amount of ink in a little jar.

In this case, it’s a way to get your tie dyed with the color of one of your favorite politicians without anyone knowing it. It’s a very simple way to show your allegiance to one of the most prominent political ideologies.

For example, in the United States, we have different states with blue, purple, and yellow. So a tie dyed with the color of one of those states could also be a good way to pass the taint.
You can also get your tie dyed with the colors of your state. This is actually the least common form of tie dye. I get people to dye their ties with their state’s colors because the colors of someone else’s state is more likely to give the appearance of a tie, but the reverse is also true. If you are not a Republican you can get a tie dyed with the State of Vermont.
The most popular states to dye your tie are Vermont and Connecticut. Vermont is also the least common.
